CDL is now part of an elite group of companies worldwide to successfully fulfil the FTSE4Good high standards of corporate social responsibility.
The FTSE4Good Index provides an important benchmark for socially responsible investment worldwide. Investors use FTSE indices for investment analysis, performance measurement, asset allocation, and to create wide-ranging index tracking funds.
CDL's entry into the coveted Index affirms CDL's sustained efforts to couple successful corporate objectives with proactive community and environmental initiatives. Through the years, this social awareness has been adopted in its corporate green philosophy, where as a major developer, CDL strives to offer a living environment that is conducive for a healthy and comfortable lifestyle.
The company embraces the practice of environmental conservation as complementary to its business commitment. CDL has won a number of awards for its environmental initiatives, including the prestigious Green Leaf Award from the Ministry of Environment in 2000, and PR in the Service of Mankind (PRISM) Merit Award for the Environment. Among its "green" projects are the Shop & Conserve campaign in 2000, Nature series Corporate Calendars, and Singapore's first Green Map. As an advocate for environmental protection, CDL pledged a three-year commitment, as Friend of the Environment, to the Green Partnership Programme set up by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC). It continues to support various SEC projects.
At the PRISM Awards 2002, CDL was honoured with the Excellence Award for Best Community Service (projects above $50,000). The award recognised CDL's long-term commitment to community service. Anchoring the Community Service win was the first-ever industry-wide Singapore Real Estate Charity Bowl. The Charity Bowl garnered a high level of management and staff involvement in fundraising efforts. Apart from giving financial support, CDL staff also offered their personal time and friendship to the needy through the activities of CDL's staff volunteer club, the City Sunshine Club.
In addition to recognising CDL's work on environmental sustainability and community service, the FTSE4Good Index acknowledges CDL's accomplishment at developing positive relationships with stakeholders.
