City Developments staff volunteer for a good cause

Since Monday 23 September, 70 staff members from City Developments Limited (CDL) have been sacrificing their lunchtimes to sell duck adoption certificates for TOUCH Community Services (TCS), one of the beneficiaries for this year’s Singapore Million Dollar Duck Race.

CDL’s City Sunshine Club has organized the company’s staff to volunteer their time to sell the certificates at City House for 1-hour at 11:30a.m, 12:30p.m and 1.30p.m. from now till 4 October 2002.

City Sunshine Club is a staff volunteer club which aims to promote corporate volunteerism.

The Million Dollar Duck race will take place on 24 November where 100,000 rubber ducks will race to be the first in the waters of the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Singapore River.

As a corporate volunteer for TCS, CDL has allowed TCS to set up Duck Adoption Centres at some of its buildings in Shenton Way/Raffles Place. Republic Plaza and IBM Towers have booths for TCS’ own volunteers to sell adoption certificates and souvenir derby ducks while the Duck Adoption Centre at CDL Customer Centre (CCC) at City House is manned by CDL volunteer staff. Staff at CDL’s showflats are also pitching in to sell certificates and souvenir derby ducks during this period.

Besides CDL and City Sunshine Club, other companies of the Hong Leong Group Singapore such as the staff of Hong Leong Singapore Finance, Millennium & Copthorne International Limited, Hong Leong Asia and Hong Leong Corporation Holdings have roped in their staff to support TCS through the sale of duck adoption certificates to friends and family.

Besides supporting TCS, the Hong Leong Group Singapore is extending its support to Metta Welfare Association by selling duck adoption certificates. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
