CDL shares Singapore’s vision of becoming a world-class city supported by vibrant arts and cultural activities. The nation-wide CDL-Singapore Sculpture Award was launched in November 2002 to promote creativity and interest among Singapore artists and youth in the field of sculpture. CDL recognises that sculpture is a relatively less developed art form, and hopes to discover budding talents and profile outstanding works in this area.
Themed “Wind and Water”, shortlisted participants were required to submit marquettes of their sculptures inspired by the riverside environment The Pier at Robertson, CDL’s trendy condominium project along Mohamed Sultan Road. The competition received some 200 entries. A total of eight winners and three commendation awards were selected in April 2003 by a panel of judges, comprising renowned sculptors and artists from Singapore and abroad.
